I first took up weight training to “tone-up”, until someone suggested I should think about competing. In those days there was no fitness or figure classes, just bodybuilding – so off I went to my first title, winning the under 52kg class.
I train 4-5 days per week off season (depending on my work roster and Matt’s ) with weights and cardio 3 days per week moving up to 7 days, twice a day on season. I love a challenge. I wanted to get my body back after having my son, so I started to get ready for the Queensland State and Australian National titles about 1 month after the birth of my son. I went on to win both titles this year. When it became obvious to me that to succeed in this industry, you needed some form of gymnastic’s, I began gymnastic classes at the age of 32.
I know I’ll never be able to tumble across the stage like some, but I am moving towards that elusive back-flip, and hope to god that I can do well in the physique rounds to close the gap.The athlete that I admire the most is Adela Garcia Friedmansky because she made it to the top without being a gymnast. And I love Jen Hendershotts
awesome routines and physique.
My goal in 2006 is to compete in as many shows as possible and to improve on my previous performances. I know that from here the only way is up and I plan to work extremely hard to achieve that. I hope that you stay for the ride. |
